And even if it does, hes stupid because he could use a pen, bring a cane, or just jump and press it. elevator buttons are not that high. this one needs to be more clarified.
No one remembers being a little kid and being unable to push the buttons because they are out of reach? I do.
This old riddle is worded slightly incorrectly. It needs to be as follows, so that you get the clue about having other people push the buttons:
A man lives in the penthouse of an apartment building. Every morning he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. Upon his return, however, he can only travel halfway up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way - unless it's raining OR IF THERE IS ANOTHER PASSENGER IN THE ELEVATOR. What is the explanation for this?
I knew this one, its on wikipedia when i was looking at lateral thinking. The guy is really short and he cant reach the higher buttons for high floors on the way back up. on the way down the buttons for lower floors are at the bottom. When it rains he uses his umberella.

Also yeh i agree with ecs 101 above. it doesnt say anything about other people going up.
that guy try to get an attention from a woman in the half of apaartment, that lady always back home same with him...
and then they married and that guy now have 2 wife! one in penthouse and one in the half way of the apartment!
The man can only travel halfway up the elevator is because the man is short. On rainy days he can use his umbrella if he has one, or he can just ask someone tall enough to reach the buttons or he can use anything that would be able to reach the buttons.
You are speaking of lateral thinking, but this is very much of a conventional thought. 1. Why should someone carry an umbrella on a rainy day? 2. Why should not someone carry an umbrella on a sunny day? 3. Why would someone live in such a place, if it is so difficult to go all the way up on normal days? 4. Why cant a man just wear a rain coat on a rainy day? There are many more logical flaws in this question...
the man is a midget. when it is a normal day he can only reach to the tenth floor button, but when he has his umberella on a rainy day ten he canuse his unberella to press the twelth floor button.
this worded a little different that i remembered it, but the same never the less. He could take the elevator all the way down everyday but had to get off at the 7th floor unless it was raining, in which then he could use his umbrella to press the button.
It was a midget in a trench coatso he had no umbrella. He could only reach the first button that said B (for basement)so he had to wait for a taller person to enter the elevator. However, the only other guy that got into the elevator was even smaller midget. So now one midget got on top of the other midget to reach the top button. That how they both got to the top floor but one of them lived on the floor below and before he could say jack the elevator doors closed and he couldnt reach the button he wanted and then there was power failure. The smaller midget was now stuck and his size didnt make any difference. So he just curled up went to sleep till next morning when janitor found him lying there and he called the cops. The poor midget was hauled off to the cop station and he spent another night on the floor. Thats how the first midget got home.
The midget isnt very bright is he? Surely using the umbrella on a rainy day, he would carry a stick or something to press the higher buttons on a non-rainy day!!!! Better still, ask someone else to press it for him (assuming he isnt always in the lift alone).

If s/he lives in a penthouse, then that person is rich, s/he may ask for a better elevator
and then they married and that guy now have 2 wife! one in penthouse and one in the half way of the apartment!
arent't i smart?
not...
so never wants to go past the level 23 whilst in the elevator. :)
suck that bitches.
i have another logical flaw:
wat if someone else presses a button to go higher than half way because that is their level.
wat happens then?? geees.
If is me, i'm sure I'll move out.
imagin being so tired after work, and still need to walk up the stairs.
if it is a 20 stories building, halfway is 10 floor.
so need to climb 10 flag of stairs after a long tirring day.
worst if there is alot of things to carry.
If he is really that rich, get a mansion high on the hills with nice view. Don't need to worry about the lift or stairs
