retarded
All of your problems are retarded. You say you can solve them by looking carefully at the wording. You leave out tons of data. Your solutions are essential quantum leaps and only in the direction you are looking. After looking at your holier than thou solutions, it is readily apparent that many valid solutions exist to your word problems. If you want people to come up with your idea of the lateral solution you have to provide more details.
#2 - Not lateral! - 10/07/2007 - 16:41
Because she would ern twice as much money.
#3 - orla - 10/10/2007 - 08:41
lorry
lorry lorry lorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#4 - orla - 10/11/2007 - 00:24
"not lateral!" is an idiot. To be defined as lateral thinking problems, the solution cannot be directly acquired, otherwise you would have a critical thinking problem. Yes, many correct solutions can exist, but the fun comes with coming up with the most simple, elegant answer (which is usually the correct one- not "holier than thou").
#5 - Kyle - 10/12/2007 - 13:03
DOH!!
I should have figured this one out!
#6 - daisy - 10/12/2007 - 22:11
Tru Dat
EXACTLY Kyle. But I wouldn't say "correct", I think you were closer with most simple and logical. Although it's fun to come up with feasible answers that not even the asker has considered.
#7 - Samurai Pal - 10/26/2007 - 15:10
Kyle, you are right!
You' re right Kyle!
#8 - nc - 11/20/2007 - 01:05
It's an obvious answer question
He would earn three times as much money because three people would pay him rather than one. It's like "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Duh, so he could get to the other side. Lateral thinking puzzles are supposed to be stupid, outside of the box thinking.
#9 - Also Named Kyle - 12/09/2007 - 17:31
That was really easy!
#10 - Sakura - 12/12/2007 - 14:29
hard to please
new yorkers are hard to please, and very demanding, too stylish and sophisticated
#11 - juan lopez dungog - 12/29/2007 - 06:42
Even more elegant than the solution.
He would rather cut the hair of any number of Canadians than cut the hair of a specific New Yorker... himself!
#12 - Avery - 01/08/2008 - 18:00
maybe the new yorker had lice!
#13 - candy - 01/26/2008 - 06:06
This problem's underrated.
This question is alright (better than the rice one) because the nationality of the clients are irrelevant, but are added to confuse the reader. If you look closely it doesn't mention or merely even imply that the nationalities were the basis for the decision. The answer should have read something like "because more clients = more business"
#14 - Bruce - 02/17/2008 - 21:14
YOUR A JOKE
Why are you wasting our time
#15 - alway - 02/22/2008 - 16:37
Aren't you wasting your own time? No one asked you to be here.
#16 - Scott - 02/24/2008 - 17:21

#17 - Gibbs - 03/15/2008 - 12:30

#19 - also named also named kyle (mad world!) - 07/12/2008 - 06:57
But...
He wouldn't get 3 times as much money, given the exchange rate.
#20 - Alex - 09/19/2008 - 18:43

#23 - bored - 09/24/2008 - 03:30
...y'all so stupid
this is pure bullshit!
He would have spent 3 times the time on 3 canadians than 1 new yorker
it is the same...
fuck the guy who made this question, go back to elementary and suck dicks
#24 - James - 10/03/2008 - 20:35
ookk
it is easy there are 3 canadians and only 1 new yorker so nyou would earn 3x as much moeney if you serve the canadians and you would get less moeney if you do the 1 new yorker
#25 - kazio - 10/21/2008 - 10:48
A bit silly and pointless...
It's just not something a person would go out of their way to say, unless the nationality was relevant. It would be like a store owner saying he'd rather sell 3 cans of Coke than 1 can of Pepsi. It is assumed that more revenue is in the plan of any business person. The direct implication is that the brand is what makes the statement worth mentioning in the first place. Mis-directing the reader is certainly useful for many puzzles, but when the answer isn't clever, it's a bit disappointing. Some of these are good, I don't like this one as much... Yes, we get it, the answer is so obvious that 95% of the people are going to overthink it and pass it up completely. Let's move on.
#26 - Toyer - 11/16/2008 - 04:51
Overcomplicated it
I read this and immediately thought "Because he would get more money", then decided this answer was too simple. I ended up somewhere between the genetics of Canadian hair, political agendas, and stereotypical personalities.
