The anthropologists may also be cannibals, in this hypothetical scenario, each group may be lying to the other about needing to get across in an attempt to, well, you know...
my solution: 1 anthro go across with one cannibal. then get the cannibal t go back across the river, then the other two anthros go across by boat and then let the cannibals figure out what to do and run the f*** away
a person who practices antropology the study of humans, and their anatomy, cultures, languages, interactions... pretty much anything to do with humans.
Perhaps I've misunderstood the problem, but couldn't you just do the following: Take a cannibal and anthropologist into the boat, take them across in pairs? That way it would always even out.
Please point me out where I've been mislead, I don't think it would be as easy as this.
The problem you missed: There is only one boat and that boat has to return to the first bank somehow.
Assume the group does not have any means to return the boat but row it back (e.g. there is no rope to pull it over) Rowing the boat back also brings one person back to the starting point. After that the groups are no longer paired. But still it is possible to alwaya have enough anthropologists on one bank and in the boat so that no one gets eaten (see Shario's "graphic" above)
"solution" is correct...you can have an anthropologist and cannibal go in pairs...you dont even have have to go through all that stuff..because in the solution there's an extra person..."you" who is rowing the boat!..so u can pick them up in pairs.
ANYWAYS, I HAD HEARD OF THIS LOGIC PROBLEM BEFORE.

leave a cannibal to paddle and exit last.
