The man is hung from the ceiling so he needed something to reach the ceiling. That something was a block of ice that melted.

No widows in the room, just a window by which his hangman entered and left the room, leaving the man standing on a block of ice to be hanged when the ice subsequently melted, leaving the puddle.
Alternatively, 'widows' was a typo, in which case the man came to be in the position of being trapped in a door less, windowless room with a rope in a right condition to construct a noose and a block of ice able to support him so as to hang himself from the ceiling until the ice subsequently melted. (Of course, this begs its own questions, such as how the man came to be in the room given its nature of no entrance or exit and the incredibly selective nature of the objects in the room.)

Let's see where should I begin with this one. If there is a room with no doors or windows "nothing"; 1. How did he get into the room? 2. How does an observer know that he's there? Much less that there's a puddle of water on the floor

Maybe, He is both dead and alive.

The actual riddle goes like this: A dead man is found hanging from the ceiling of a room with only one door and no windows. The only thing in the room is a puddle of water underneath the man and the door was locked from the inside. How did he die
