A man is found, hanging, in a room. There are no windows, the door is locked from the inside. There is NOTHING in the room. All that is found is the man hanging, and a puddle of WATER underneath him. How did he hang himself?
Hint: He wasn't murdered, and there was no chair for him to get up and hang himself.

I am aware that the correct answer is the melted ice block but I'd like to propose a different theory because of the authors stress on "NOTHING".
Well according to the author there was nothing in the room so it is safe to assume that the room also didn't have any air. So the person died of asphyxiation. |

an ice cube melted, as everyone before me has mentioned.
but, technically, since the author stresses the fact that there is NOTHING in the room, wouldn't there be no puddle, rope or dead man?
The answer is that the man climbed to the top of some huge ice cube, hung the top on the ceiling, tied it around his neck, and slowly, slowly, slowly died as the rope tightened. |
