30. Marriage Anniversary Riddle

A famous restaurant starts a special marriage anniversary promo to the couples on Thursdays who carry their proof of marriage...50% discount on meals only on Thursdays. A couple enters the restaurant on Thursday, tells the manager that they got married on a fine Sunday 28 years back hearing this the manager chased away the couple without being served. Why?

Solution:

Because their story was impossible.

If it was their 28th wedding anniversary on that Thursday, then the wedding date 28 years earlier could not have been a Sunday.

A date 28 years later usually falls on the same weekday, because 28 years contains 28 normal weekday shifts plus 7 leap-day shifts:

28 + 7 = 35 days, and 35 is divisible by 7.

So Sunday would again be Sunday, not Thursday.

Even in edge cases with century leap-year rules, it would shift only to Saturday or Monday, not Thursday. So the manager concluded their marriage proof or story was fake.
