The name of a specific horse (Friday) is a proper noun. If the intended answer to the riddle is that the horses name is Friday, then Friday should've been capitalized. This is especially important in puzzles like these that depend on the exact wording of the puzzle.

It is said that he was "going in' on a friday. it didn't say that he reached there on friday. he could have reached there on tuesday.
