The answer to the lateral thinking question about the police raid is interesting. I agree that the carpenter, mechanic, and driver could be women, but I think the reasoning about the fireman not having a name badge is also valid.

I've seen this one before and it was messed up.
John is a fireMAN, not a firefighter.
A fireman can't be a woman, otherwise it would be a firewoman.
A firefighter is genderless.
