14. Two Sons and Two Fathers Are on a Fishing Trip. on the Way

two sons and two fathers are on a fishing trip. On the way home, they are in an accident and one of them dies. Now there are only two of them alive. How is this possible?

Solution:

There are three individuals: a grandfather, his son, and his grandson. The grandfather and the father represent the two fathers, while the father and the grandson represent the two sons. When one of them dies, only two remain alive: the grandfather and the grandson.

The answer to the fishing trip puzzle is that there were three people: a grandfather, his son, and his grandson. This explains how there can be two fathers and two sons while only three people are present.

Clear explanation.
Three people A B C.
A is the father of B.
B is the father of C.
So we have two fathers and two sons in just three people.

By "them" you never specified if it was either a father or son. So if a father died, that would leave two sons and so two of "them". If a son died, two fathers would be alive and there would still be two of "them".
