34. A Lady Buys Goods Worth $200 From a Shop A lady buys goods worth $200 from a shop. (shopkeeper selling the goods with zero profit). The lady gives the shopkeeper a $1000 note. The shopkeeper gets some change from the shop next door and keeps $200 for himself and returns $800 to the lady. Later the shopkeeper of the next shop comes with the $1000 note saying "fake" and takes his money back. How much LOSS did the shopkeeper face? Submitted by tartle · Added 26 June 2013 Show Solution Solution: The shopkeeper lost $800 in cash given to the lady and $200 worth of goods, totaling a loss of $1000. The $1000 returned to the neighboring shopkeeper is not an additional loss, as it is a reimbursement for the fake note.

1000
He gave back the money to the other shopkeeper $1000 and gave other $1000 dollars worth to the lady. So he lost $2000
1800
the shopkeeper lost as much as the lady took away from him ...it is just $1000 :o
He lost $800.
He also lost $200 worth of product, but only lost $800 cash.
Loss = £800 cash + £200 stock = £1000 altogether
We cannot add the £1000 given the neighbour too, because that is a reimbursement of what the neighbour gave already
